THEA HEIKENS

Ik ben een autodidact, mijn inspiratie bron is de vrouwelijke vorm in haar veelzijdigheid: ingetogen soms uitbundig dan weer vrolijk, alles afhankelijk van mijn stemming.

Sinds twee jaar werk ik naar de abstractere vormen toe, mensfiguren vaak in een omarming of verstrengeling. Daarnaast onderzoek ik combinaties van stukken verweerd of afgerond hout die ik op het strand vind met keramiek. De stukken hout zeggen mij iets, ik zie er iets in. Het “ontbrekende” maak ik er in keramiek bij.

I am a self taught artist. My inspiration comes from the female form in all her diversity. Sometimes demure, sometimes exuberant and happy, it is all dependent on my own emotional state.

The last two years my work has started to become more abstract as in entangled human figures. I also investigate how I can mix found pieces of driftwood with ceramics. The pieces of weathered wood speak to me and I connect with them. That what I think is missing I add in ceramic.
